I recently returned from New York City where I performed RACHEL CALOF in the New York Internation Fringe Festival. Julie Congress of Backstage said,”Actress Kate Fuglei gives a tour-de-force performance in RACHEL CALOF, a one woman show with music adapted from Calof’s memoirs. Fuglei’s portrayl of Calof is commpletely believeable from her Yiddish accent to her stoic physicality Not only is it excellently realized and a testament to minimalist theater, but it does put our own lives very much in perspective. Michael Gilitz of the Huffinton Post said,”She shines particularly in the (Yiddiish) song BEYOND THE LAST HILL and the show’s highpoint AMERICA, which captures the frightening thrill of heading to a new life and now continent.”
